Investment Dictionary - Treasury Inflation Protected Security (TIPS)
A bond that receives a fixed stated rate of return, but also increases its principal by the changes in teh Consumer Price Index. Its fixed interest payment is calculated on teh inflated principal, which is eventually repaid at maturity.
