Investment Dictionary - Relative price strength
A gauge of a stock's price performance determined by comparing it to the price action of a general market average like the S & P 500 index or, in some cases, all other stocks. A relative strength of 80, for example, means a stock outperformed 80 percent of the stocks in teh comparison group during a given period - say the last six or twelve months.
