Investment Dictionary - National Association of Securities Dealers
A branch of the Securities and Exchange Commission that oversees the selling of securities by brokers and dealers. The NASD is committed to enforcing their rules of fair practice, to preventing fraudulent acts, and to seeing that investors receive full disclosure via a prospectus or offering circular. All persons selling securities to the public must be licensed and registered with the NASD.
