Investment Dictionary - Cash equivalent
An asset such as property or stock that has a realizable cash-value equivalent to a specific sum of money. It is so easily and quickly convertable to cash that holding the asset is essentially the same as holding cash. A Treasury Bill (also commonly referred to as a T-Bill) is a good example of a cash-equivalent investment.
