A strategy for balancing risk within a portfolio. A predetermined percentage of investment dollars is placed in financial products that presere principal. The remaining investment dollars are placed in financial products that sek growth. The goal is to achieve for the portfolio the highest expected return without taking on more risk than the investor wants to accept.
