Investment Dictionary - 12b1 fees
12b1 is a securities regulation that allows mutual funsd to charge a fee in addition to the management fee for such things as "marketing expenses, distribution expenses, or sales expenses." These expenses, in essence, disguise a commission. Be sure to avoid 12b1 fees in excess of .25 percent.
